The sun had already fallen off the sky by the time we got home yesterday!
We got out of the air-conditioned car into the terrific heat of the day the concrete breathed on us. The branches, the leaves were still and there was no sound. As if even silence were asleep. The neon of the lamppost was scattering its tired light, exhausted from the heat. All the windows of the high rise were wide open waiting for a miracle breeze to cool the hot air of the night. This summer miracles are in short supply.
I and the wife started to walk toward the door when from the depth of a room on an unspecified floor the intensifying sigh of pleasure turning into a moan and then into screams and finally into a long laughter gurgled down the car park, the square, the town only to stop somewhere very far, softening in the bosom of the night.
We were standing still in front of the door lest our steps disturb those engaged in pleasure, somewhat beguiled, contemplating the extraordinariness and tenacity and the fact that it was a long time ago when we could compete with this huge, er? adventure, achievement or something.
?Lovemaking!? Comes forth the word, there is no better expression to describe what we had just witnessed. I think the concrete will continue to breathe its heat on us tonight and perhaps the sound will lure us into?
