The sun had already fallen off the sky by the time we got home yesterday!
We got out of the air-conditioned car into the terrific heat of the day the concrete breathed on us. The branches, the leaves were still and there was no sound. As if even silence were asleep. The neon of the lamppost was scattering its tired light, exhausted from the heat. All the windows of the high rise were wide open waiting for a miracle breeze to cool the hot air of the night. This summer miracles are in short supply.
